It's tough for the Australian squad to set fresh records.

The greatest achievements have long been mastered.

We're talking about the team that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, along with an additional six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed over three years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, those for the record chasers, are what's still available for a squad that has accomplished all there is.

The fact it required as late as Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, regaining their record for the biggest in the female 50-over format, is, honestly, a tribute to the bowlers that have worn canary yellow over the last half-century.

It's difficult for their batters to maintain a record if not afforded the possibility.

Ultimately, the result of Australia allowing 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy being given a chance to produce her most recent brilliance.

Initially recognized as the teenage relative of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her nation failed to win either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups conducted earlier and has seen it all through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 championship victory came three months after her debut and seven international trophies have come from 10 efforts across formats.

The gritty keeper was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India briefly halted the winning streak.

That loss "pushed us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy commented earlier.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the title decider and was awarded tournament MVP. She ensured her country would not come up short.

Whether this recent magnificent innings topped that previous effort is debatable.

Certain people claim the argument supporting championship match pressure. Some might respond with the test that comes when facing a record target and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's definite is this hundred was much more difficult to see coming.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 happened while she was the highest scorer, but this innings followed six innings in India over the past few weeks in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"For those following me in the nets, it was a disappointing period because it seemed my form was missing at all," commented Healy.

"Yet the moment you step out on the field, your competitive nature take over and you just lock into the contest."

Healy's competitive nature has consistently been her great strength - and an invaluable trait in replacing legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, dismissed by the 22-year-old seamer in all three matches, but here that only provided Healy's inspiration.

A single came off Gaud's first delivery and from that point Healy was underway.

"A chance to play and face the challenge with her and just have a bit of fun that way, sort of got me going," stated Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 deliveries - her quickest at a World Cup - and her hundred in 84 balls as she punished short deliveries, striking 21 boundaries and three sixes.

By the time she was out Australia needed 66 additional runs at a run-a-ball - an achievable target now demanding an easy conclusion.

"To chase 330 is uncharted waters so I'm pleased we have the belief to do that now," stated Healy further.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it again but, should it happen, we know we can do it."

These statements will be the final thing competing nations at this tournament should hear.

During the last week a feeling they will succeed regardless of circumstances has become more firm - this success succeeding win against Pakistan by 107 runs despite struggling at 76-7 at one stage.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before an encounter with longtime competitors England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final place may probably be guaranteed.

It was in the semi-finals they left the previous year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a match Healy was absent due to ruptured tissue in her foot as she led her country for the inaugural occasion at a significant event.

Such is her determination, she later said she regretted not playing with the discomfort.

But while she later admitted those physical issues have delayed plans to retire, this championship is likely to be her concluding event as leader in one-day cricket and she is hasn't yet secured an international tournament as skipper.

Victory in India would bring her to the top of her final mountain.
